Prof. Ding earned his Ph.D. from the University of Science and Technology of China in 1991. He has long been engaged in experimental research on magnetically confined fusion plasma physics and the laboratory simulation of space plasmas, and is dedicated to the development of advanced terahertz-laser-based measurement techniques—driving the independent breakthrough of terahertz lasers, detectors and solid-state multiplier sources from core components to complete systems. He is one of the company's two chief scientists.

Research Focus
Prof. Ding conducts experimental research on magnetically confined fusion plasma physics and the laboratory simulation of space plasmas. His work spans advanced terahertz-laser-based measurement techniques and plasma physics research, underpinning the independent innovation of core terahertz diagnostic components and complete system solutions.

- He has published more than 100 academic papers, including 8 as first author in the leading physics journal Physical Review Letters.
- He has worked successively at the Department of Modern Physics, University of Science and Technology of China; the University of Kiel, Germany; the University of Saskatchewan, Canada; Oak Ridge National Laboratory, USA; and the Department of Physics and Astronomy, University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), USA.
